Probate

I have heard Probate judges over the years refer to Probate Court as being a court involved in a person’s life from “birth until death”.  I have thought about that comment over the years and realize it is so true.  The Probate Court handles cases for families pertaining to the birth of a child, such as an adoption, the death of a family member, such as the administration of an individual’s Last Will and Testament and numerous other issues between “birth and death”.  

I counsel and represent individuals with regard to:  

• The administration and settlement of a decedent’s estate from the filing with the Probate Court of a Petition for Probate of the Will or Petition for Letters of Administration through the final settlement of the estate including any contested issues that may arise during the administration.
• The necessity of legal proceedings to establish a Guardianship and/or Conservatorship for a family member or loved one.
• Establishing a Guardianship and/or Conservatorship for a family member or loved one from the filing of a Petition for Guardianship/Conservatorship with the Probate Court, the accounting for the Conservator through the Final Settlement of the Guardianship/Conservatorship.
• Adoption
